Position: Connect Your Community Corp Member
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: The CYC (Connect Your Community) Corp member will be responsible for the recruitment, training and support of participants in the CYC program. This position reports to the Matrix Human Services CYC Corp Supervisor. Continued employment is contingent upon the receipt of grant funding.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Adheres to all Matrix Human Services policies and procedures.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with college personnel, trainees, and consortia members, and business/industry community.
- Performs all communications in an effective and timely manner.
- Works independently or as part of the team.
- Demonstrates exceptional adherence to work schedules and office hours.
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, will be evaluated on an individual basis.
CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND ETHICAL CONDUCT: All personnel of Matrix must adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics and incorporate Performance Quality Improvement efforts into their everyday work practice.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Engage, train, equip and support new high-speed internet users.
- Using a case management approach, each team of five CYC Corps Members will work to train and connect to the internet between 1500 and 1750 disadvantaged households.
- Learn and effectively use a variety of professional skills including: planning and teamwork, client management, community outreach and marketing, and computer skills training.
- Participate in extensive training including an initial operation program and subsequent face-to-face and virtual classes. Initial training will include preparation for formal IT skills certification (IC3 ICDL).
- Work with partner agencies and community leaders to help plan, implement and evaluate community outreach and marketing activities that support CYC mission and goals.
- Conduct training classes for new users in basic computer and networking skills as well as specific computer network applications.
- Provide one-on-one assistance and support CYC participants to help them complete their training and to find affordable options for high-speed internet access and actually become “broadband connected”.
- Effectively manage a large “caseload” of CYC participants at different stages of recruitment, training, and post-training and provide accurate up-to-date information about these participants for the program’s data management system.
- Participate in CYC’s national events (online and in person), in professional development opportunities, and in post-CYC job search services.
- Other duties as assigned by the CYC Corp Supervisor and/or other Matrix Human Services administrators.
